SMRA launches shells from two locations on the St. Mary's River, Chancellors Point Natural History Area and James P. Muldoon River Center. Both locations are in St. Mary's City, just minutes away from Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Leonardtown, Point Lookout, and Solomons Island!
Directions
From the North (DC, Waldorf)
-To Chancellors Point:
Take MD-235 S/Three Notch Rd
Turn right at to N Shangri-La Dr and pass Mr. Tire Auto
Slight left onto Willows Rd (continue for about 3 miles)
Left onto MD-5 S (continue for 4 miles)
Right onto Rosecroft Rd until you reach a small unpaved access road straight ahead. Pass the SMRA "mighty crabs" logo on your left.
​​-To James P. Muldoon River Center:
Take MD-235 S/Three Notch Rd
Turn right at to N Shangri-La Dr and pass Mr. Tire Auto
Slight left onto Willows Rd (continue for about 3 miles)
Left onto MD-5 S (continue for 3.5 miles)
The River Center will be on your right side after a small bridge. The boathouse will be in full view. Parking is located slightly farther up the hill.

-To Chancellors Point:
From Gate 1, turn left and take MD-235 S/Three Notch Rd (continue for about 1 mile)
Turn right at to N Shangri-La Dr and pass Mr. Tire Auto
Slight left onto Willows Rd (continue for about 3 miles)
Left onto MD-5 S (continue for 4 miles)

-To Chancellors Point:
Take Route 4 South over Solomons Bridge.
Turn left onto Indian Bridge Rd (continue for around 5 miles)
Slight left onto MD-5 S/Point Lookout Rd (continue for around 6 miles)
Right onto Rosecroft Rd until you reach a small unpaved access road straight ahead. Pass the SMRA "mighty crabs" logo on your left.

-To James P. Muldoon River Center:
Take Route 4 South over Solomons Bridge.
Turn left onto Indian Bridge Rd (continue for around 5miles)
Slight left onto MD-5 S/ Point Lookout Rd (continue for around 6 miles)
After you pass over a small bridge, take your first right. The boathouse will be in full view. Parking is located slightly farther up the hill.

From the South (Ridge, Point Lookout)
-To Chancellors Point:
Take MD-5 N/Point Lookout Rd.
Left onto Rosecroft Rd. until you reach a small unpaved access road straight ahead. Pass the SMRA "mighty crabs" logo on your left.

-To James P. Muldoon River Center:
Take MD-5 N/ Point Lookout Rd.
Left onto Old State House Rd, just before reaching the Historic St. Mary's City Visitors' Center. Parking will be on your left about halfway down the road.
To reach the River Center from the parking area, continue to the end of Old State House Rd. and turn right on Trinity Church Rd. The boathouse will be on your left at the bottom of the hill.
